Gujarat School Details

Gujarat is a state of India. Gandhinagar is the capital city of the state and Ahmedabad is its largest city and the main commercial hub of the Gujarat.Gujarat is also home to some of the educational institutes of the nation.SSA project implemented by Gujarat Council of Elementary Education in Gujarat States. The education department of the gujarat pays special attention to the improvement of elementary education in Gujarat. The state government has also launched the district primary education program for making primary education compulsory and free for all students up to a certain age limit.

The focus of RTE Act is to make available free and compulsory elementary education to everychild of the age of 6 to 14. The Gujarat Elementary Education Rules provide for admission oncompletion of 5 years and schools have been admitting children to Class I accordingly. If the age ofadmission is now made 6 years then there will be virtually no admissions to Class I in the first year as allsix year olds would have progressed to Class II having been admitted to Class I the previous year. TheCommittee was therefore faced with a serious dilemma and finally decided to adhere to national norm of 6 years as age of admission, but recommended that if some parents desire their child should be admittedon completion of 5 years, schools should allow them admission. The Committee hopes that with greaterspread of pre primary education, this problem will get resolved during the next few years.

The Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT) shall be the academic authority to prescribe the curriculum and evaluation procedures. The Government could also set up and authorize other specialist agencies to undertake children assessment and school ranking.
