Who benefits?
Gujarat Government's Public Enterprise Gujarat Sweepers Development Corporation, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar implements various welfare schemes for the rehabilitation of Sweepers and their dependents. Nor does the income limit apply to take advantage of the corporation's schemes.
In addition, under Manual Scavengers-2013, it is prohibited to unload any scavengers for cleaning underground gutters or wells and to provide necessary equipment for their safety and security as well as provision of fines and penalties in case of omission.
