Lets face it. If a system or an EA can make money, will you sell it?
Of course not. Maybe for really astronomical numbers.
I get that some traders may lack capital, so they may think about selling their profitable system/strategy or EA for making the life easier for them. However that's a shortsighted way of doing business. It's like killing and cutting open the goose that lays golden eggs.
Yeah we retailers wouldn't make a difference in this giant market. But let's not forget the power of the internet.
You sell the EA to someone > then the person you sold it to sells it to others > it quickly gets popular in the forum since it makes money > some "finance bro" youtuber finds out about it and shares it/sells it to thousands > it becomes popular in the net, causing the hedge funds, quants to learn about it > magic is gone.
This may look like a very pessimistic, paranoid scenario but it is probable. We cannot underestimate that little probability, since we traders tend to make money from little probabilities and very little edges
