is this thread still active? because i am fans on macd, and i create some strategy with MACD cross. and there are few strategy i made but the result is not promising yet, only work in beginning and start hit SL after few month. i am combining macd cross with RSI , macd with EMA , macd with VGR (this one still working on eurusd until now). i trying made the strategy for all major pair and only audusd with different one. example on eurusd MACD 12 26 9 and EMA 20 50 cross together (max is 2 hours difference or 2 candle bar) , but for audusd its MACD 12 26 9 with EMA 10 50 , and for scalping i use all same MACD with EMA 20 200 cross together. the result really good... only in beginning. and i am trying to put some indicator to make this strategy avoid fake signal (thinking about not trade when the volume candle is huge maximum xxx) ....

{quote} Oh Wow! Thanks for that information, Dave. This reminds me of another system I was interested in some time ago. Triple Screen System by Alexander Elder. I loved the idea of using higher TF to get the main direction of the trend. I am not 100% sure if we are on the same page with my entries/exits. I tried to go to September 2018, to have the same graph as you have attached, and I marked my entries, as I would have entered them. I had to go a little bit back as the first trade was on 14th September, but I think you understand that. H1 does...
This is interesting, so you keep buying as long as the macd and signal line are crossing below zero. Then close it when they are crossing again above zero.
For selling, you keep selling as long as the macd and signal line are crossing above zero and only close if they are crossing again below zero.

Interesting strategy, thank you Lukass.
I've been coding an EA with multiple optional conditions to find out the best way to trade this, i'm doing testings right now, will be back with the results ASAP, it'll take a while because "real tick tests" are slow.
SPB All Time Return: 4.3%

For now testings are not good, in the long run (15+ years) there's always a strong trend that kills the strategy, testing mayor pairs such as EURUSD, USDJPY...
It MAY work on some ranging pair like EURGBP, will keep testing, for now it's NOT working long term (testing several combinations from 1H to daily MACD combinations: 1H+4H, 4H+Daily... also non combined like just 1H, 4H, daily etc...)

An interesting idea, this system is, but IMHO it has little chance of long-term profitability without multitimeframe analysis.

Hint: a small move in momentum (MACD is a momentum indicator) on a (sufficiently) higher timeframe is a huge move on a (sufficiently) lower timeframe. Why not take advantage of that?
